Senior year is full of decisions, a big one being what college to go to and how on earth to pay for it. But senior Jacob Venable, Everett High School’s football kicker has nothing to worry about; he has accepted a full ride scholarship.

With the first track meet right around the corner the track team is conditioning and practicing to get everyone in shape; with the long term goal of as many people as possible qualifying for the state meet.
Last year the boys relay team consisting of Micheal Skinner, Anthony White, Anthony Zarway, and Jaleel Canty made it all the way to the state meet. They took fourth place in the 4×1. Which Carruthers was pleased with but believe they could have done better.

Chasing The Dream

 Junior Jaleel Canty says that two years from now he sees himself at a Big Ten school playing football on a scholarship. Canty came one step closer to his dream this November, when Football Recruiting Analyst Tom Lemming came to Everett High School to invite him to the Junior All- American Camp in Phoenix.

The All-American Camp is made up of the top 300 high school football players in the nation.

Almost all sports from varsity football to JV soccer had successful seasons. The varsity soccer team took 1st place in the CAAC. The varsity football team beat grand ledge, who was an undefeated  team until that game. The JV volleyball team went all the way to the CAAC division III championship game. On and off the court, boys basketball players work hard

Right after the last bucket dropped on last season, basketball teams have been preparing for the up coming season, and Everett is no different. From shooting 100 shots a day to lifting weights, athletes have been preparing for this year’s competition. With a team made up of mostly seniors, they say there’s no choice but to play hard. 
Having the advantage on your opponent is the key to the game. The earlier players get into the habit of working off-season, the better their chances of success in the upcoming season. …

The Viking swim team has a new look this year. The team has combined with two other area high schools it is now a Division One swim team that goes by The Lansing Legacy. The Legacy is led by seniors Blake Howe and Chase Moreno.
The team looks to improve the 2011-2012 season after a strong finish last season.

After going 0-9 last season, the Viking football team was more hungry than ever for a win. And playing Waverly, it showed.
The Vikings defeated the warriors, 41-13. Scoring touchdowns were third-year starting juniors Jaleel Canty, Anthony White, and Javon Moore.
During the summer, the team developed a family bond. They ran together in the morning and lifted weights afterwards. They also participated in several seven-on-seven’s.
