When student Durga Bhandari’s home caught fire Tuesday, December 13, she and her family lost everything, including all their treasured items. Students and staff are being encouraged to help the family by donating money to help them put their lives back together.
Bhandari’s mother told ESL teacher Dr. Robert Dalton that she was glad her family survived, but she was still very worried about the devastating loss.
Teachers and students are struggling to understand how something so horrible could be happening to Bhandari.

After three months of not having a legit teacher, the Lansing School District has finally hired one. Joining the staff at Everett High School is Mrs.Knaebel!
Mrs.Knaebel is a teacher from Detroit. Dance students are excited about finally having a real teacher and not just a sub.

The deadline for submissions to the second annual “Art Attack” literary magazine is here. According to graphic design teacher Chad Sanders, the magazine’s design editor, there is a shortage of poetry and they are still looking for submissions.

Saturday, December 3rd the cafeteria at Everett High School was turned into ball room fit for Everett’s best. Dresses of all shapes, sizes, and colors were displayed at this traditional event. Whether they were couples or just going in single, the Everett students gave a warm welcome to everyone who entered the doors ready to party.

Walking into dance class for the first time to see a substitute, you think “it’s okay, maybe our teacher is sick.” The next day comes, and there is still a sub. Last year Everett got a grant for production of the musical “Dream Girls.” This year, the theatre department did it again, and the Thoman Grant will help pay for the upcoming spring musical “Chicago.”

Lately, “row row row your boat” isn’t just a cute child’s melody. This year, it’s also an Everett staff motto, with oars and all.
Any student who looks closely may notice that many teachers have little wooden oar key chains with the words “Row On!” written on them.

At about 4:00 p.m. when you try to exit the school sometimes you will find that the main doors are all locked. When you try yo use the doors by the auditorium you could find that those doors are locked and chained. The school administration locks the doors because once people leave they have to stay out, but what about the people still inside the building? Blood drives are a tradition at Everett High School and the blood drive on October 28 collected between 50 and 60 pints of blood.
For every pint of blood received, former NFL player Todd Ducket (TJ) donated $10, which brought around $500 to Everett, which can be used toward the school. More importantly one pint of blood could potentially save three lives.
Students and staff signed up to give blood & help others.
