On Friday October 7th, 2011 the Everett Vikings finally beat Grand Ledge after four long years of defeat.
In 2007 the Vikings blew out the Comets with a score of 41-6, and they came very close to winning in 2008.
On Friday, the Vikings were victorious again with a score of 14-7.
“They played with more intensity on Friday than I’ve seen them play in three years,” said athletic director Cindy Short.

Everett’s spring musical, “Dream Girls,” is loosely based on the story of the successful Motown Records act, Diana Ross and The Supremes. It showcases the drama and struggle they went through to reach their dream.
Many Everett students had high expectations for the opening night, Wednesday, March 16.

After the ground-breaking mounting of “Rent: School Edition” last year, the drama department is again preparing to stage another popular Broadway musical: “Dreamgirls.”
Thanks to a $10,700 Thoman Grant that theatre tech teacher Jim Allen pursued and won, the show will include four theatre professionals.
Allen said the road to receiving the grant wasn’t an easy one.
“I got the grant by crawling on my belly and begging for it,” said Allen.

The Snowflake Ball was held December 4, and for four hours the cafeteria was transformed from a boring room that we see everyday into a ballroom filled with students dressed in formalwear, dancing the night away.
The Ball has been put on for 16 years and the tradition will continue on for years to come. The ball was first started in December 1994 by social studies teachers Judith Hightower and Myrna Mitchell.

Students and teachers are given a chance to show their school pride during homecoming week.
Each day of the week there was a different theme for the day, and all the students were able to participate. This year the themes for homecoming week were; Monday, hot mess Monday; Tuesday, twin day; Wednesday, cartoon/ character day; Thursday, throw back Thursday; and Friday was the traditional class color day. Students and teachers alike were excited for what the week would bring.

After a year filled with after-school work sessions, stressful deadlines, and dedicated teamwork, the Viking Voice staff got to see their work rewarded last month.
On May 30, the staff attended the Michigan Interscholastic Press Association (MIPA) spring awards conference. This year, the paper received nine individual awards, a Spartan award for online newspaper, and a silver award for the print edition.
“I am so proud of my staff,” said newspaper adviser Chad Sanders. “This is the most awards we’ve ever taken home. These guys rock.”
