Jeff Kocab was an officer for the Tampa Bay Police Department, who was shot and killed on June 5, 2010. He was well known and well loved by many people, and made a difference in his community. On September 23, Earvin “Magic” Johnson caused a media stir when he visited Everett with business partner Best Buy Mobile. Best Buy presented the school with a $5,000 check.

Many seniors have older siblings who remember graduating at the Breslin Center. The Breslin is a large venue with more than one level, so their parents could easily see them walk across the stage. After three months of not having a legit teacher, the Lansing School District has finally hired one. Joining the staff at Everett High School is Mrs.Knaebel!
Mrs.Knaebel is a teacher from Detroit. Dance students are excited about finally having a real teacher and not just a sub.

It’s official. Everett’s quiz bowl team dominated Okemos in the championships yesterday, 360-310. Everett is the first Lansing public school to make it to the quiz bowl championships. It was a close game, and according to Sharaya Lundy, a team player, Okemos were good sports and although Okemos wanted to win just as much as Everett did, they’re all still friends.
“The atmosphere was tense and we were nervous but it was also light because we’re friends with Okemos’s players” said Lundy.

The Everett High School Quiz Bowl team made it to the final four, and defeated Flint Kersley on Tuesday, with a score of 380-210. Not only does this give them a chance to compete in the championship, eight students could receive a $5,000 scholarship to Michigan State University.
“Needless to say, the team has been working extremely hard and deserves any kind of recognition possible,” said coach Ben Billings.

On Friday October 21st, 2011 Everett dominated Jackson throughout the entire game. Everett pulled through for their last game of the season with a score of 34-7.
“I felt good because I knew that we were walking out with the win, but I also was sad because we as a team have been through a lot together and that shouldn’t have been our last game,” said senior Deshawn Hobbs.
