Gaga has done it once again, with another sensational hit. Whether it’s liked or disliked, her new video is still a huge hit. “Marry the Night” premiered December 2 and had over 4 million views in the first 24 hours. At press time, the number of views had reached over 32 million.
“Her video is amazing,” said senior Marco Martinez.

In just a few years, Lady Gaga has become a pop idol that will appear in music history alongside Madonna and Michael Jackson.

Many artists become famous for their fashion and amazing shows, and Gaga has certainly made headlines in both of those areas. But it is her voice that sells her records, and she has sold over 23 million albums to date.

“Shes very unique, I believe that she’s our decade’s pop icon,” said junior Codi Stockenauer.

Almost every single show she has is sold out very quickly. Fans looking to attend a Gaga concert can look forward to a memorable and entertaining show, with awesome piano skills with a fantastic voice to match.

On her Vevo Youtube channel, Gaga said her “Marry the night” music video “is autobiographical… a completely true story that’s been filtered through the lens of my artistry.” Gaga was very specific on what she wanted for her video: very linear, structured, and very strong angles. The video starts with Gaga being rolled into a mental hospital with very short black hair and no dramatic makeup. The story plot for the music video is all about twisting picture-perfect moments into an absolute horror.

“I think as a young person you have this sort of icon or ideal in your mind of who you could become or maybe all the things that you aren’t and you imagine in your greatest moment that you are actually that person that maybe you’re not,” said Gaga.

As an entertainer, Gaga’s greatest fear was that she was never a ballerina, so she wanted to destroy something that in her mind was something negative about her and tell it in the music video.

“Her video was monsterific,” said Martinez.

Gaga is originally from New York city, her hometown. Her all time dream was to be able to sing in Time Square on New Year’s Eve. This year, she got her wish. Everyone knew she was going to be singing in Time Square, but many were surprised when she helped NYC mayor Michael Bloomberg drop the ball.

“I said whoa, is that Lady Gaga? She’s so beautiful!” said Martinez.

Lady Gaga was very moved by the chance to live out her dream, but it was hard to tell. Like always, she was wearing something extravagant. This time, her outfit was designed by Versace, her head piece covering her face making it impossible to see her tears of joy, but her voice ratted her out. For her, making it to Times Square was something beyond her dreams.

“You know that you have really made it when you get to sing in Time Square,” said Gaga on the ABC New Year’s Eve special.

“Girls wear fancy scarf’s to make their outfit cuter,” said sophomore Jennifer Krauss.
And too keep their feet warm, boots are very popular. They’ve always been an option, but not a choice many would want; now the ladies can’t get enough of the cute fluffy boots.
“UGG boots are really popular, my little sister has three pairs herself,” said sophomore Almer Dzananovic.
Scarf’s, you can visit any local clothing store (Meijer, Wal-Mart, Kmart est.) to purchase them. UGG boots are also at your local clothing stores, and their website uggaustralia.com.
For guys, winter wear is similar to the ladies. For coats there are a lot of Burberry Brit coats seen and Columbia fleece jackets for men, but some just like to stick with a heavy sweatshirt.
“Most are wearing sweat shirts,” said Krauss.
To find the jackets mentioned above, you can go visit any Dicks Sporting Goods clothing store or you can visit their website to place an order. Columbian fleece jackets can also be found at any Macy’s store. Khumbu jackets can be ordered at nordstorm.com, Columbia jackets can be ordered from Columbia.com, and Burberry brit coats can be purchased or ordered at us.burberry.com.

Movies like Paranormal Activity 1-3, and shows such as Paranormal State, Ghost Hunters and others freak us out and fascinate our search for what’s real and what’s false.
According to Biography: True Story, 75% of Americans believe that there are events that take place that cannot be explained, and over half believe they have experienced paranormal activities. Billy Baldwin, an actor, producer and writer, believes that your surroundings can give you room to be in a rattled state of mind. Many students said that after watching Paranormal Activity 1, 2 or 3 they were paranoid. And some students say when they are alone and in a different place they feel a little uneasy. The people who don’t believe in paranormal activities have either not experienced it or have found logic to try to explain it.
“When people hear documentaries about paranormal activities it seems more real than movies made by actors who get paid to act scared,” said junior Haley Furhman. Many people believe in haunted houses with a story about a soul afraid to leave, or a family member keeping in touch.
Eric Balfour (“24”, “Skyline”) said searching for adventure and danger has always been his forte and when he found it, he knew the difference between his previous “creepy moments” and the paranormal experience. Some people can’t wrap their minds around something not proven with evidence they can touch or write on paper.
Lots of people believe in things that are not tangible but believe in it because they have experienced it as “real.”
Many people believe in religion, and know it to be real and just because other people don’t believe what they do, doesn’t make it less real.
Kirsten Thorne, who created a group called “Paranormal Housewives,” said that the search for insight into the paranormal isn’t a joke.
“It’s something we take really seriously,” Thorne said in an LA Times article. “This is not for the person looking for entertainment. It’s for the person looking

It takes a different kind of movie to scare us these days. The classic thriller movies have been flipped, cut, copied and pasted to give us a more horrified feeling. Horror movies have always been produced to give you a sense of fear, to make you scared to go into the dark. But, over the years the production and way of scaring people has changed.
Today, horror movies are looking for you to jump with excitement and fear, to look over your shoulder each time you hear a noise. Loud ...

Loud noises and faces popping out of the TV screen are what often make people the most scared.
“Now movies are scarier because the characters or the actors are a lot more crazy,” said sophomore Destyni Nelson.
Movies change when the world’s perspective of something changes. For horror films the perspective is fear, how much a person gets scared when watching the movie. Over the last century horror films have changed things to become scarier and more real.
“Graphics, visuals, effects, props and even story lines have changed to be more horrific,” said junior Brian Janezke.
To be more horrifying and seem more real, the monsters and characters in movies changed. From the 1930’s to the 50’s movies were cheaply made for drive thru; mostly watched by teenagers, what you could call a “grade-Z” film. But, some late movies are classic thrillers.
“One of my favorite old-time movies is Idle hands,” said Nelson.
Old movie graphics and effects were thought up, drawn up, and colored in. Props were made mostly by hand with hard work and dedication. Today computers are used for animation and effect, in which help make longer movies with more action. But, props are still for the most part handmade.
All movies are different, but to notice the change in the technology, watching two movies from two different time frames would help very much.
Amityville Horror, made in the 1977, is said to be based on true events. A family moves into a haunted house where they experience abnormal happenings, and move out 28 days after arriving.
“An old movie I’ve seen is Amityville Horror, and that movie kind of scared me,” said Nelson.
Another horror film made more recently is, Paranormal Activity, made in 2009. P.A. was a film not based on a true story but, events the director himself say he experienced. It has to do with demonic spirits.
“When Paranormal Activity first came out I thought it was pretty scary,” said Janezke.
Movie effects and actors are a big part in displaying fear, in the character and in the scene. Quiet dim places, with a lot of corners and loud music help make people feel fear from movies today.
“I think today’s actors could put more effort in the character they are suppose to be,” said Janezke.
Making you jump and scream are things movie directors look forward to. They are looking for you to cover your eyes when they music gets loud, or drop your jaw when the killer is behind the main character. It’s your reaction to fear, the thing you instantly think to do when you get scared.
“I jump and cover my eyes when I get scared or think something scary is about to happen,” said Nelson.
When people see horror movies from the past through today, they may see many changes the movie industry has gone through over the years.
“To see how the movies have changed you want to go back and watch movies from before and then watch movies from today, then you can see how much they’ve changed,” said Janezke.

Remember Rugrats, Aaah!! Real Monsters! Rocko’s Modern Life and Hey Arnold? For about a decade, Nickelodeon has had a lot of requests to put these and other shows back on the air, and they finally heeded.

Remember Rugrats, Aaah!! Real Monsters! Rocko’s Modern Life and Hey Arnold? For about a decade, Nickelodeon has had a lot of requests to put these and other shows back on the air, and they finally heeded.
On July 25, the Nickelodeon network TeenNick rebroadcast some of the popular “classic” 90’s shows from Everett’s youth. These include: Kenan & Kel, Clarissa Explains It All, Doug, The Amanda Show, and All That. The last two months of summer you could catch a two-hour block titled “The 90s are All That” at midnight. At the beginning of October, however, Nick decided to have the shows come on starting at 10 p.m. and bring two more shows into the lineup: Stick Stickly to host U Pick With The Stick and Hey Dude.
“They were advertising for [it] all summer long and I thought maybe it was just a rumor, but it came back and I watch it every night now that it comes on earlier,” said senior Jurell Barnes.
“The 90’s Are All That” is more of a nostalgic salute to the seniors and up, however, as they were old enough to actually have been a part of the 90’s.
“I didn’t really watch those shows in the [actual] 90’s,” said sophomore Sadie Girvassi. “But I used to watch Rugrats all the time and I’m excited that it’s back.”
Not everyone is as enthusiastic about the return of these popular shows. Some are disappointed that they only come on TeenNick, which is not available on every cable network.
“I don’t get that channel,” said freshman Tristan Walker. “But I don’t really watch those shows anyway, so I don’t feel like I’m missing out.”
For those who are able to watch it, and are excited for the return of the shows from our childhood, you can tune in Sunday through Monday from 10 pm to 3:30 am.

As the holiday season approaches, lots of new movies are coming out. Some pertain to the holidays, while others are a regular mix of comedy, thrillers and drama. Plenty of students are excited to get to the theaters.

While many students are ready to spend break watching family-friendly movies, others are looking for something a little edgier.
“The Sitter is [going to be] funny as [heck] because Jonah Hill is in it,” said senior ...

“I love Twilight, but it just doesn’t interest me anymore,” said senior Marissa Clark. “I mean it’s a cheesy story about a vampire and a mortal falling in love and next they’re going to have a baby.”
Just as Harry Potter stole the spotlight with its never ending voyages, some say that Breaking Dawn, Part One will bring back the Twilight fans and become number one again in the box office.
Breaking Dawn is one of Stephenie Meyer’s latest movies and the fourth of her novels. The story is so big that the directors and screen writers had to split the movie up into two parts.
“I am very excited to see what’s going to happen between Edward and Bella and their new found child,” said sophomore Chassidy Nelson.
“The Twilight Saga isn’t such a big deal to me anymore. When it first came out everyone was all like I’m for Team Edward and the other fans were going for Team Jacob,” said Nelson.
Nelson isn’t the only one who said they weren’t choosing teams.
“I would rather watch Harry Potter then to watch any Twilight movie,” said sophomore Michael Young. “Harry Potter is more fun and interesting.”
Breaking Dawn is about Bella and Edward, her vampire groom, going on their honeymoon, and Bella soon discovers that she is pregnant.
Bella experiences a fatal childbirth, and Edward fulfills Bella’s dream of becoming immortal.

It’s that time of year again… the holidays. For parents, it can be a nightmare, but for children, it’s a wonderful dream. If you own any type of gaming console from Playstation to Xbox, you know that the games at this season fly off the shelves faster than a speeding bullet, especially as the video gaming industry gets bigger and bigger.
Since June, when the E3 electronic expo showcased some of the world’s greatest games to come this holiday season, kids all over the US have been licking their chops. This has made a lot of gaming companies happy in the fact that due to this years holiday season sales should skyrocket due to the popularity of video games. Thanks to Ign.com
Unlike last year, there are a boat load of games to look for this holiday season, like MW3, the most anticipated shooter of 2011. This game is a great buy; the lasting appeal will have you speechless with tons of multi-player options.
Owning a PS3 or an Xbox 360 is a good thing, since Assassin’s Creed Revelations hits store shelves November 15. This one is another highly-anticipated game, that is the final chapter in the Florentine adventure. This game will feature a great story element and an awesome multi-player mode for tons of competition.
Drake’s Uncharted 3 (Drake’s Deception) is another great game which released earlier this November. If you follow the series, or whether you just want to try a new game, this PlayStation 3 exclusive is a perfect fit. With tons of online play, you will be busy for quite some time.
The main consoles aren’t the only thing buzzing this holiday either. Sony and Nintendo have released new handhelds like the brand new Nintendo 3DS and the Sony PS Vita. With the recent price drop for the 3DS, parents might give this a second look. The price was reduced from $249.99 all the way down to $169.99; almost $100 dollars in value in less than six months. This makes this system a must have this holiday season. With games like The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time and Super Mario 3D, you’d be crazy not to try and pick one up.
Sony on the other hand has not dropped the price on the Vita, its latest and greatest machine. This handheld comes with a contract from Verizon Wireless for around $300 with a monthly plan so that you can video chat, call and play online while in a car or on the move making the payment somewhere around 20 to 30 dollars a month… something to think about while shopping. The standard WiFi version is about $50 less than the upgraded version which is just fine. Some games to look to think about are the new and improved Drake’s Uncharted coming sometime this December.
“I think that this Christmas might be the best one yet,” said Freshman Tristian Walker. “There’s a lot to choose from, like some games from my favorite series. Final Fantasy will not be releasing this holiday but with everything to choose from I think I can improvise.”
Sophomore Jesus Bermudez is looking forward to some holiday gaming.
“After I get Modern Warfare 3, my holiday game list will be complete. I really think I can log around 50 to 60 hours into just the multi-player option. Epic won’t even describe it,” said Bermudez. “Unfortunately, Christmas is sort of a ways away, but I’m still excited.”

With the Pretty Little Liars summer season finally ending, fans were left at the edge of their seats when the “Liars” were accused of killing Allison.

With the Pretty Little Liars summer season finally ending, fans were left at the edge of their seats when the “Liars” were accused of killing Allison.

Little did fans know that when the episode ended, a big surprise was going to be revealed: a one-hour Halloween special on Wednesday, October 19 at 8 p.m. ABC Family is going to include the episode on its yearly “13 nights of Halloween” event. The episode is going to focus on the main characters and how things were before Allison’s death. The shows has 34 episodes over its two seasons, but the Halloween special will take the total to 35.

Many Everett students like the show, and are excited about the bonus episode.

“I love the show, it is so intense!” said senior Brianne Spare. “The Halloween special is going to be awesome, because Allison is going to be there,” said Spare.

The show is going to show the last Halloween that all the characters spent together before Allison’s death.

“I know that one of the girls is going to be attacked or disappear,” said Spare.

The girls are all dressed up in their Halloween costumes (Allison is dressed as Lady Gaga). In the small glance at the special Allison says “my life is in danger.” Maybe many questions will be answered, one of them being: who really is responsible for Allison’s death? “I think Jenna is responsible for Allison’s death” said Spare. There are many suspects in the show; hopefully, the real one will be revealed on October 19.

Dancing movies have become very popular in last years. Movies like Step Up, Honey, Stomp The Yard, and Take the Lead have made it to the big screen. This month, another dance movie hits screens: a remake of the 80’s favorite Footloose.Footloose opened October 14, and stays faithful to the original story, but with some modern twists. For example, instead of playing the contagious Rock and Roll music, it has hip-hop and R&B. They still kept the country music in key scenes. One thing that certainly wasn’t in ...

One thing that certainly wasn’t in the original was Ren’s iPod, which he is constantly listening to throughout the movie.

Like the original, a drunk driving incident causes a conservative town to ban dancing. One difference in the remake is that the accident scene is shown, instead of simply referenced in quick flashbacks.

The whole town is affected by the accident, which takes the lives of four teens. One of the dead teens is a priest’s son (Dennis Quaid). Because of the four teens dying dancing became illegal in the town.

The movie makes it really clear that music is a way of expressing yourself and also a part of your culture.

The movie is great for all ages, and has dance, music, comedy and romance. Ren McCormack (Kenny Wormald), plays the boy from Chicago that has been dropped into this small town where dancing is prohibited. The movie has more comedy than the original, thanks to Willard (Miles Teller), Ren’s best friend.

Many of the same scenes were kept from the original, like the railroad scene and others. The famous tractor race from the original is still in there, but with buses instead of tractors.

Another thing that was kept is the famous song Footloose, by Kenny Loggins and it’s contagious choreography the scene opens the movie. The movie is great for the whole family to watch. It gives a great message for the new generation. Though the 80’s movie was great the new version is better because we all can relate more to it and it has a fresher look. All of the actors in the movie are very talented and do a great job with all the character. I rate the movie a 8/10 is definitely worth a watch.
