Christmas is right around the corner and people are having mixed emotions about the upcoming holiday.

Due to COVID, some people’s Christmas won’t be the same this year.

“I am not looking forward to Christmas because I will be in Lansing, instead of taking a trip and visiting family,” said junior Barrington Smith.

Even though some are not looking forward to the upcoming holiday, despite COVID, others are.

“I am looking forward to spending time with my loved ones,” said senior Luis Villegas-Martinez.

There are many things that get people in the holiday spirit, festive music is one of them.

“I like festive music around Christmas because it gets me ready for Christmas time,” said senior Avery Hill.

Although some people love Christmas music, others don’t like it for many different reasons.

“I do not like Christmas music, most of it is too slow and cheerful,” said junior Samara Brown.

There are many different singers that sing Christmas songs, but certain artists remain popular year after year.

“I don’t have a favorite song, but I tend to like Michael Buble,” said Villegas-Martinez.

There are Christmas songs for all ages, children, teenagers, and adults.

“My niece and I like the song ‘I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas’ by Gayla Peevey,” said Brown.

While every year new songs come out, many still like to listen to the classics.

“I like traditional Christmas music, because I’ve been listening to it since I was able to understand what the lyrics meant,” said Smith.

There’s a lot of free Christmas music you can find on YouTube. If you look up Christmas music on YouTube, it’ll give you many choices from live music, to mixtapes, to playlists, also single songs.
