It is officially prom season! Every upperclassmen is already going around making plans. Who should I ask? Party bus or limo? Where are we taking pictures? Where are we going out to eat? Where’s the afterparty going to be? And of course the main question for girls, what dress is the best looking one to flaunt in? Sometimes the prices could be a bit overwhelming.
“It’s one of the biggest memories of highschool, so some people are willing to go the extra mile,” said senior Malana Fuentes.
Some wonder if spending $200-$500 on a dress that will only be worn once is really worth the money.
“I think girls should choose dresses based on what they like not because of the brand,” said Junior Kayla Richardson.
No matter what type of dress you get the important thing is to make sure you like the dress you get.
“I think at the end of the day, every girl just wants to feel like Cinderella,” said senior Des’Manique Day.
It is more expensive to custom order a dress than to go out and buy one because of the material and the extras one would add to their dress. What you’ll end up with is a $200-$300 dress, and that’s if you choose the cheapest material.
Whether it’s all-out or simple, some seniors said that prom is a once-in-a-lifetime event that they’ll want to remember.
“It doesn’t matter what people end up spending on their prom dress as long it’s what they want, it all still ends in how much you value that special day,” said senior Jacklyn Ho.
There are options for used prom dresses as well, Plato’s closet along with other gently used clothing stores have some used prom dresses. You can also get prom dresses at places like Deb’s, JcPenney, David’s Bridal and other Bridal shops. There are endless possibilities on what type of prom dress you can get. Whether it’s a $300 dress or a $50 dress the important thing is you like it.
