Sitting on the couch on a cold winter day, watching that rerun of “How I Met Your Mother” a fourth time, you begin to wonder: is there anything else out there you could be watching?
The middle of winter is not a big time for movie releases, but there are some new movies that may be worth getting off the couch for.
21 and Over (R)
The people who have seen The Hangover may end up liking this new comedy written by the same writers as The Hangover.
This film is about a guy named Jeff Chang who is a straight-A college
student preparing for a medical school interview when his two fun-seeking best friends, Miller and Casey show up to celebrate Jeff’s 21st birthday. Miller and Casey convince Jeff to go out for his 21st birthday
party in an attempt to break him out of his shell, risking Jeff to miss his interview the next day.
“I would see this because it’s a parody of The Hangover” said junior Nick Pulido. “People like watching others act stupid.”
21 and Over came out March 1
G.I. Joe: Retaliation (Not Rated)
The Joes are back and they’re retaliating.
The G.I. Joes are not only fighting
their mortal enemy Cobra; they are forced to contend
with threats from within the government that jeopardize their very existence.
“This movie seems like a good one to watch” said senior Morgan White-Villanueva.
G.I. Joe: Retaliation comes out March 29.
The Host (PG-13)
Stephenie Meyer
is at it again with another book turned movie. This time it is called The Host.
This story is about a girl named Melanie Stryder who lives in a world where humans are possessed by an alien force that controls their minds and bodies. Melanie is one of the few surviving humans who have not been taken over and in order to find the man she loves, she’ll be guided by a mysterious spirit known only as “the Wanderer.”
“I read the book and loved it,” said sophomore
Tiffany July. “I just hope they keep it like the book.”
The Host will come out March 29.
Scary Movie 5 (R)
For the people who have seen the Scary Movie franchise you would like to know that there is a fifth movie coming out.
This time, Scary Movie is about a couple who begins to experience some unusual activity
after bringing their newborn son home from the hospital. With the help of home-surveillance cameras and a team of experts, they learn they’re being stalked by a demon. Once again Charlie Sheen will be in this movie along with Lindsay
Lohan, Ashley Tisdale,
Mike Tyson and many others.
“I didn’t know that this movie was coming out, but I can’t wait to see it,” said senior Ryan Locke.
Look out for ‘Scary Movie’ out April 12.
